If you’re wondering what can do all of this, you only need to go so far as Dermapen. We brought this extraordinary new, yet simple technology to our office because of its effectiveness.
It has long been known that by causing controlled microinjuries to the skin, that new skin will develop in those microinjuries and keep new collagen forming. Previously, fractional lasers were used but the equipment was expensive, and thus, the cost of the treatment was high. Then came Dermapen, which is an oscillating microneedling procedure that is customizable for skin types and conditions that can achieve fractional resurfacing results with less pain, less downtime, and probably most excitingly, less cost.
How does it work? By using a specially designed microneedling device, thousands and thousands of tiny holes are created in the skin that allows us to physically deliver skin firming hyaluronic acid where it normally cannot reach. If you imagine your lawn as an analogy, if you aerate your lawn and seed it at the same time, much needed nutrients are brought to the roots, and the seeds then repopulate your lawn into a new lush, green landscape. That, in a nutshell, is how Dermapen works. We open up channels, infuse hyaluronic acid, and then allow your body to replace those microinjuries with fresh, unpigmented, brand new collagen.
The result? Fresh, glowing skin with smaller pores, remarkably smooth texture, improved acne scars, and softening of early wrinkles. Once you try it, you will want it again and again because the results are visible. Most people should try a series of 2-3 treatments spaced 6 weeks apart, and we often have to stop our clients from wanting this every 3-4 weeks.
Does it hurt? Well, yes, but we place a numbing cream on your face prior to treatment to make it virtually pain free. For rougher skin types and coarser texture, the Dermapen treatment can be preceded by microdermabrasion for an even more dramatic turnaround.
All skin types are eligible for this treatment, which is another advantage over the lasers. From the lightest to the darkest skin types, Dermapen is a great option for anyone looking for meaningful and dramatic improvement in their skin. Downtime is minimal, usually just overnight with minimal redness.
The only thing we ask is to avoid makeup for the first 24hrs after treatment. From then on, go ahead and glow!
