Getting Ready for Beach Weather
Will this be the year you actually remove your bathing suit cover up at the beach or pool? If you want to get into the best possible shape for summer fun, now is the best time to reinvigorate your exercise routine, refocus your energies on a healthy diet, and book some plastic surgery procedures that can support your “get slim” goals for the summer.
Since you still have a few months before the height of the summer season, CoolSculpting is the ideal solution for extra fat around the abdomen, hips, and thighs. Using special applicators, the device gently cools unwanted fat cells without harming surrounding tissue. These fat cells die off and are eliminated over the next month or two for a smoother, slimmer appearance.
What if your cruise or beach vacation is scheduled next month? Liposuction is still the perennial favorite for problem areas especially hard to exercise away—excess fat in hips, abdomen, and buttock areas or on the back, calves, and ankles. Liposuction can even help with excess fat around the chin and neck area. For the first few days, you’ll be wearing compression or elastic bandages over the treatment areas to control swelling and compress the skin to the new contour. Give yourself at least two to three weeks to fully recover before you hit the beach.
The same recovery time is required for an abdominoplasty or “tummy tuck.” This procedure is especially popular with women who have had children or who have lost a significant amount of weight and wish to return to a lean, toned mid-section (perfect for the beach!) While the procedure requires major surgery—the surgeon removes excess fat and skin around the stomach and tightens abdominal muscles with sutures—most patients find they are ready to return to an active life style within four to six weeks.
Whatever procedures you select to support your goal of the best possible body shape for the beach, plan ahead! At Esana, our surgeons are booking a month (at least) in advance. While you may still be shivering in the last blast of winter, summer will be here before you know it and you won’t have a Michelin man coat to cover up the trouble spots!
