These renewal treatments will work to exfoliate the skin and produce a healthier, rejuvenated, younger appearing complexion. These treatments produce stronger collagen and can also help refine texture, control acne and lighten pigmentation. Different medical grade acids are used during a chemical peel depending on the skin care needs of the particular individual. Best results are achieved when a series of chemical peels are performed at regular intervals. A skin analysis with our New Haven and Guilford aestheticians will help determine the best skin care treatment combination for you.

VI CHEMICAL PEEL
What is a chemical peel?
Chemical peels are an effective solution to common skin issues including pigmentation, acne, scars, and fine lines. What is sometimes referred to as “chemexfoliation” has been used for hundreds of years for both clinical and aesthetic purposes. But what makes VI Chemical Peel the best choice for chemexfoliation?
VI Peel’s version of a chemical peel offers you a safer alternative to mechanical or physical exfoliation. Our peels also can address multiple skin issues simultaneously, from texture, to pigment, to acne, all in one in-office visit.
Aren’t all chemical peels the same?
No. Chemical Peels are classified based on how deeply they penetrate the skin layers and include Superficial, Medium-Depth and Deep Peels. The deeper the penetration the greater the overall exfoliation and cellular regeneration. The depth of the peel is determined by several factors that include acid type(s), percent concentration of the acid(s), the pH of the solution, as well as the time on the skin.
There are many superficial peels on the market that, as the name suggests, only address surface issues. Deep peels are available, but downtime exists and can be significant. For true correction, VI Peel offers six medium-depth peel formulations that make the most impact, with the least amount (if any) of downtime.
How does a VI Peel work?
Our aesthetician applies a blend of salicylic acid, TCA, and phenol, to the face, neck, and/or décolleté, to exfoliate the skin and stimulate new cell growth. The peel penetrates the epidermis and the dermis layer of the skin, initiating a peeling process that reveals smoother, brighter skin underneath. At the completion of the peeling process, your skin will have improvements in skin texture, tone, and clarity, and can address issues like hyperpigmentation, acne, and signs of aging.

What should I expect after my VI Peel?
After a VI Peel, expect your skin to initially appear slightly red, tan, or pink, akin to a mild sunburn. Within a few days, you’ll likely experience peeling, which can last for 3-7 days. The amount of peeling can vary, but it’s a sign of the old skin layers shedding and revealing fresher skin underneath. VI Peel recommends a series of three treatments for optimal results. Your skin will have a different healing experience after each treatment.
- Immediately After Peel:
Your skin may look red or tan, and you might feel a bit tight or like you have a mild sunburn.
- Day 1-2:
The redness and tightness should subside, but you might still feel a slight tingling sensation.
- Day 3-5:
Peeling will likely begin, starting around the mouth and spreading outward.
- Day 6-7:
Peeling should subside, revealing the refreshed skin underneath.
- Beyond Peeling:
Continued sun protection and moisturizing are important, as the new skin is sensitive.

How Long Will I Peel?
In general, you can expect to start peeling on or around day three and peel for about three to four days afterward. Each person’s peeling experience is a little different, and some may peel for more or fewer days, depending on the condition of the skin. If this is your first VI Peel, it’s also normal to peel for a longer period of time.
You may not peel after your treatment. This is normal. It does not mean the peel is not working. There are many reasons why you may not see the peeling. Even if you can’t see something with the naked eye, the VI Peel is still working for you and exfoliating at the cellular level to brighten and improve your skin’s appearance. If you have further questions or concerns, we highly recommend you return to your Practitioner.
